Australia Girl Trip
My girlfriend and I have come to Australia on a unique mission: to revel in the sister spirit of the land Down Under. With just 16 days to play, we concentrate our visit to two of the gayest places here: the area around Cairns, where a 100-million-year-old tropical rain forest kisses the lapping waters of the 18-million-year-old Great Barrier Reef; and that screaming metropolis of Sydney, site of the largest and longest queerfest on earth, Mardi Gras.

Finding Myself in Vietnam
Here's how you cross the street in Saigon: Slowly and deliberately, step out into the traffic and begin walking. Swivel your head in both directions and make eye contact. Stay steady. … That first day, as I stepped out into the noisy, churning mass of motors and humanity in Vietnam’s busiest city, I had no idea that I was about to commit the most intimate act of my life. I didn’t know that the sights and sounds and smells and tastes would weave their way into my bloodstream and continue circulating within me long after I returned home.

Gargoyles, Tea and Pretty Girls: Oxford, England
I went to Oxford looking to fall in love, and I did, but not with a beautiful woman — with England. My months there were an endless series of clear, cold nights punctuated by lascivious kisses, fueled by strong Bloody Marys, and lit by the bright windows of the otherwise pale Gothic colleges lining High Street.

Heading to Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a city alive with contradictions: Vendors sell dim sum from street carts while talking on cell phones, and businessmen practice tai chi in the park before heading to work in the modern skyscrapers that dot the horizon. The unique blend of Eastern tradition and Western culture draws travelers from all over the world who want to sample the ages-old glamour of Asia. Here are my tips for making the most of a trip to Hong Kong.

In Search of the Devil: Traveling to Tasmania
Tasmania, the smallest and most southern Australian state, has often been called one of the last of the living Edens, although my childhood cartoon addiction left me thinking otherwise. I imagined the Tasmanian Devil (or “Taz” as we called him on Saturday mornings) spinning around the countryside like a tornado, demolishing everything in sight with his ferocious jaws. It left me with the impression of a wild country, teeming with unusual flora and fauna that I had to see. I headed to Tasmania hoping to spot a real Tasmanian devil. What I didn’t expect to find were friendly people, a thriving gay and lesbian community, outrageous outdoor adventures and breathtaking views around every corner.

Inside Austin
No matter what the season, a road trip to the capital city of the Lone-star State does a body good. I have decided to start a public-relations campaign to move Austin, Texas, onto a major United States interstate — but it has to be one running east-west.
