Change Agent “There’s this idea that if there’s a lesbian on television, in Congress, or on the cover of a magazine that things aren’t that bad," says Sue Hyde, a self-described rabble-rouser and director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force's annual Creating Change conference. "But actually, some things are bad. This culture is desperate to deny our very existence, even as we move into the next century"
As a staff member at NGLTF for the last 13 years, Hyde has run another of initiatives in addition to Creating Change, traveling throughout the South organizing statewide groups for the repeal of sodomy laws, mounting a campaign to expose the persecution of gay men and lesbians in the military, and serving as coordinator of the NGLTF's Fight the Right Project.
Hyde lives in Cambridge , Mass., with her two children and her lover of 14 years.
