The moment has come … (drum roll, please) … Regina is putting her foot down. I've had ENOUGH! This school has driven me to the breaking point!!!
Every day should not be a struggle, that is not what public education is all about. Some girls wouldn't even let me use the girls' bathroom today, they said I wasn't a girl or a guy. I know I'm a girl, but I also think it shouldn't matter WHAT I am. If I'm a troll I should still have my rights. If the school system accepts everyone, it should be made to treat everyone equally. Right?
All this has messed me up so much, I'm beginning to think I deserve the stuff that's happening to me and Jude, or that we don't deserve the same respect as everyone else! I have to do something before I start to think that way all the time.
The problem is, I don't know where to start. I think my classmates need to be reeducated about what it means to be gay or lesbian, because all you hear on a daily basis is negative stuff — even just people saying, "Oh, that's so GAY" when they think something's stupid.
But I can't do that by myself, so sometimes I think the only thing I can do is to show everybody that I have guts and that I'm stronger than they are. If they see that, maybe they'll give me some respect and space. After all, it's high school — survival of the fittest is the way it goes.
As far as education goes, Mr. Parker offered to help me put together some sort of presentation for Health class on gay and lesbian issues, with some discussion of Christianity because people are always throwing parts of the Bible at me (but what did Jesus have to say against homosexuality? NOTHING!).
I don't know, I'm not sure anyone would listen to me, and also that would only reach the people in my class, not the whole school. Also, I really want to do something that will make a statement, that will show those who harass me that I'm not scared, that I'm sticking up for myself.
Homecoming is in two weeks, and I'm thinking that that might be a good time to make a splash. Maybe Jude and I should go to the Homecoming Dance together! That would DEFINITELY spice things up, those dances are usually so boring. Nothing like a good old-fashioned riot to get the blood pumping … heeheehee! My devil horns are nice and sharp now!
